Aloo Bukhara Chutney recipe
A sweet, tangy and spiced plum chutney.

Ramzan and Eid
Ingredients
- 250 g dried plums (aloo bukhara)
- 3 cups water
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 250 g jaggery
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black salt
- 2 to 3 drops of red food color
- 2 tbsp melon seeds
- 1 tbsp vinegar
Method
- In a pan, add the dried plums and water. Cook on low-medium heat for 10 to 12 minutes until the plums soften.
- Add the red chili powder, roasted cumin powder and black pepper. Mix well.
- Stir in the jaggery, salt and black salt. Cook until the jaggery dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
- Add a few drops of red food color for a vibrant look.
- Mix in the melon seeds and vinegar. Stir well and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool.
Good to know: Store in a glass jar and refrigerate for long-lasting freshness.
