Easy Healthy Snacks

Healthy snacking does not have to mean boring food. These recipes use everyday ingredients such as dates, nuts, oats, jaggery (gurr) and yogurt, and most of them need no special equipment. Several can be made ahead, which makes them ideal for busy weekdays, school lunch boxes and the long gap between iftar and sehri.

Each recipe below has the full ingredient list, step-by-step method and a video. You can also open any of them in Cook Along mode to cook with timers and read-aloud.

  • Batch-make bars and balls once and keep them in an airtight container, so a healthy snack is always within reach.
  • Control the sweetness. Dates and jaggery already add sugar, so taste before adding more.
  • Toast nuts and seeds lightly before using them for a deeper flavour.
  • Pair a snack with a drink such as green tea or sattu for a more filling break.
