Hot and Sour Soup recipe
A restaurant-style hot and sour chicken soup.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1/2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
- 250 g boiled chicken, shredded
- 1/2 cup carrot, julienned
- 1/2 cup cabbage, shredded
- 1/2 cup capsicum, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tablespoon black pepper powder
- 1/2 tablespoon salt (adjust to taste)
- A big bowl of chicken stock
- For the sauce mix
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon salt (adjust to taste)
- To finish
- 1 beaten egg
- 3 tablespoons corn flour
- Water, for the corn flour mixture
Method
- Heat the cooking oil in a pot. Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the shredded boiled chicken to the pot.
- Add the carrot, cabbage and capsicum. Season with the black pepper powder and salt and mix well.
- Pour in the chicken stock, cover the pot and cook on a low flame for 4 to 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the chili sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar and salt. Add this sauce mixture to the soup and stir.
- Slowly pour in the beaten egg while stirring the soup continuously.
- In a small bowl, mix the corn flour with water to make a smooth mixture. Gradually add it to the soup while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Continue to cook until the soup thickens to your desired consistency.
- Adjust the seasoning if necessary and serve immediately.
