Ingredients
- 400 g boiled chickpeas, about 2 cups
- 1 large potato, boiled and diced
- 300 g plain yogurt, whisked smooth, about 1 1/4 cups
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 green chilli, chopped
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp imli (tamarind) chutney
- 2 tbsp mint chutney
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander
Method
- Boil the potato until just tender, about 10 minutes, then cool and dice.
- Drain the chickpeas and toss them with the potato, onion, tomato, green chilli and salt.
- Whisk the yogurt with a spoon of cold water and a pinch of salt until it pours easily.
- Spread the chickpea mixture in a bowl and pour the yogurt over it.
- Drizzle with the imli and mint chutneys.
- Sprinkle with the chaat masala, cumin and red chilli powder, then finish with coriander.
- Serve at once.
Good to know: Keep everything chilled and assemble just before eating so the yogurt stays thick and the chickpeas stay firm.
