A rich bread dessert, served chilled or at room temperature.

Ingredients
- For the sugar syrup
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- For the milk mixture
- 3 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1/2 cup milk powder
- 1 cup water (for mixing with the milk powder)
- 3 to 4 tablespoons khoya (mawa)
- 1/4 cup condensed milk
- To assemble
- 6 to 8 slices of bread
- Oil, for frying
- Dry fruits for garnish (chopped almonds, pistachios or cashews)
Method
Prepare the sugar syrup
- In a pan, combine the 2 cups of water with the 1/2 cup sugar. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Simmer for a few minutes to create a thin sugar syrup. Set aside and let it cool.
Prepare the milk mixture
- In another pan, heat the 3 cups of milk and add the cardamom powder.
- In a bowl, mix the milk powder with 1 cup of water until smooth. Pour it into the heated milk.
- Add the khoya and condensed milk. Cook on medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes until it thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Prepare the bread
- Cut the bread slices into halves to make triangles. Heat oil in a pan and fry the bread until golden brown.
- Drain the excess oil on paper towels.
Assemble
- Dip the fried bread slices into the sugar syrup, making sure they are coated well.
- Arrange the soaked bread on a serving plate. Pour the cooled milk mixture over the bread, covering it evenly.
- Garnish with chopped almonds, pistachios or cashews.
